Ladies Hair Dressing Competition

This category must display modem, commercial ready-to-wear that will showcase the contestant’s expertise in creating looks with a focus on the cut.
The hair cut should showcase the contestant’s knowledge, skill and precision. Inspiration should come from high fashion magazines and artists.
The mood board to be followed is Spring/Summer ’20.

CATEGORY TIPS

  • Judges want to see world-class haircutting.
  • Haircut should demonstrate a high level Of understanding of head
    form and face shape and complement the individuality of the model.
  • No pre-cutting or styling allowed.
  • Hair may be pre-coloured.
  • Clipper attachments allowed.
  • No wings allowed.
  • It is preferred that your model remains attendance until all winners are announced.
  • A complete look must be presented.

FLOOR RULES

  • A mood board presentation is necessary. The stylist should be able
    to explain the concept of his work and the reason for working with a
    certain shape, colour, technique, texture and length.
  • As per the need of the contestant’s concept, hair can be wet or dry
    Prior to commencement.
  • Clipper attachments allowed, all tools and styling aids allowed.
  • An average of 2 inch of must be removed from the majority of
    the head.
  • It is preferred that the hair is blow dried and ready for judging
    — no extra time will be given for this.
  • The model’s face must be pre-made-up at the beginning of the
    competition, but her hair must not be styled.’

Your work be judged by two different groups of judges, first you are on the competition floor working on your model (Objective Judging) and second when your model is ready in the finished look and you are Off the competition floor (Subjective Judging )
A. Objective: 20 marks (On the floor)
  1. Neat Sectioning — 5 marks
  2. Method of cutting – 5 marks
  3. Hygiene – 5 marks
  4. Minimum 2″ cut – 5 marks
B. Subjective: 25 marks (Finished Look)
  1. Client Care -5 marks
  2. Work follows the theme – 5 marks
  3. Balance – 5 marks
  4. Overall Look – 5 maks
  5. Finish – 5 marks
This category must showcase work by Artists who have an eye for the perfect palette and global hair colour techniques.
Contestants are expected to demonstrate beautiful hairstyles complemented by perfect colour placement using their Imagination and creativity.

CATEGORY TIPS

  • All hair-colour work must be done by the stylist at a designated
    venue, 1 day before this competition
  • It should showcase how colour placement can bring together a perfect look. Also, it must be ensured that the colour complements the cut.
  • No hairpieces and extension will be allowed. Full wigs we NOT allowed.
  • A mood board presentation is necessary. The stylist should be able
    to explain the concept of his work and the reason for working with a
    certain shape, colour, technique, texture and length.
  • The wardrobe, styling, and makeup must be consistent with your theme.
  • Indicate on the Haircolour Technical Form the natural level and texture of the model.
  • Include a diagram of colour placement in the Haircolour Technical Form.
  • Avoid ‘over the top’ looks as that might distract or be ‘too busy’.
  • Make your model catch the eyes Of judge. Your look should make the judges want to know HOW it was done.
  • The complete look must be presented.

This category will showcase a high fashion ‘Red Carpet Look’. Up-styles will reflect and be inspired by the good old classics including- French rolls, chignons, victory rolls, barrel curls, etc. No ornamentation or hairpieces allowed with the exception of padding.

CATEGORY TIPS

  • The model must be dressed to walk the red carpet styled in an up-do appropriate for a high fashion event.
  • In this category, the degree of difficulty in achieving the final style will be counted while judging.
  • Hair may be pre-coloured.
  • The participant must ensure that make-up (pre-done) and
    accessories must complement the finished look and style.
  • A complete look must be presented.

FLOOR RULES

  • No work can be done on the model’s hair before the competition, but it can be pre-prepped.
  • Prepping by pre-tonging, straightening and head in rollers is allowed in this category.

  • Bobby pins etc. must be carried by the participant.
  • No wigs, ornamentations or hairpieces allowed.
  • Padding is allowed.

This ‘Up-styling’ category will introduce the participants vision, innovative methods and new, experimental concepts in fashion forward hair. This is NOT a Fantasy category.
In this category, the style must be unique and edgy and must be push the boundaries. This category truly represents art.

CATEGORY TIPS

  • Expressive, creative hair that pushes the boundaries of imagination.
  • Complete freedom of color, length, extensions, wefts, anything made of Hair.
  • Props may be included as part of the costume but must be smaller than the Model. No additional consideration will be given to handmade costumes or props.
  • Model must be able to walk without assistance
  • Competitor may NOT use any copyrighted Art, Design, or Logos
  • Judged on the Originality, Visual Interest, Color, Balance, Overall impression, Complexity, Workmanship Detail, Costume, Theme & Design to complete the Total Look.
  • Pre-colouring is allowed.
  • Complete look must be presented.

  • No section of the hair is to be in a completed form prior to commencement.
  • Hair can be prepped curled, tonged or straighten but must be kept open before the competition.
  • Hairpieces, extensions or ornamentation will be allowed in this Category and these can be made in advance. However, significant change must occur to the model’s original hair.
  • All tools and styling aids allowed.
  • Bobby pins etc. must be carried by the participant.
